In Spain, like in other parts of the world, a woman becomes the recipient of a diamond engagement ring, when she agrees to marry a man. While these are elegant to look at, gifting diamond watches for men and women is also a pragmatic idea. Most of these pieces are compulsory items and you can find several grade one names of the industry creating them with different jewelers selling different types of this jewelry.

Tacori, for example is a designer known for its diamond jewelry meant for weddings and mixes the classical and modern styles with deftness. Hildago is famous for making colorful and outlandish pieces and the engagement rings from the 130-year old company Christian Bauer, is available from only some select retail outlets with their diamond jewelry available only on order. As you might imagine, not all diamonds for sale wind up being mounted in these exquisite pieces but only the best certified examples, carefully graded for clarity and color, are selected.

Diamond watches are adored both by men and women as a type of jewelry. In fact, the first wristwatches were actually diamond bracelets that had a small timepiece mounted. One saw the first of its kind when Earl of Leicester gifted one to Queen Elizabeth which was a cute round clock adorned with impeccable diamonds and which kept on dangling from a wristband. Probably this was the first real diamond watch for ladies.

On the other hand, till WWI, men liked to sport pocket watches considering wrist watches to be too feminine. The construction of the airplane paved the way for the creation of the first wrist watch for men. The reason for this is since there was no fuel gauge in the early aircrafts both hands had to be kept on the controls always. Hence there was a necessity for a timepiece which would help the pilot to track his range and simultaneously gauge how much fuel was left at the same time would not have to leave the controls simply to grab at his pocket watch.

Interestingly, the growth in popularity of diamond engagement rings was parallel to that of men’s wrist watches, happening about the same time. Today the three world famous diamond watches are from Cartier of France, Citizen from Japan and Movado from Switzerland. The origin of the phrase ‘runs like a Swiss watch’ is from the last name. Making watches for the past 100 years, Movado is a company who has in its catalogue nearly 200 different and distinctive designs of diamond watches to choose from.
