Can Exercise Like Yoga Benefit Someone Like Me?

Filed under: Health — admin @ 3:55 pm

Everyone knows that diet and exercise are essential to our well being. Regular workouts and a healthy diet are required for us to be working at our optimum and avoid illness and disease. Your health is up to you though. It is you who can choose to exercise – or not. And it is you who chooses what food to put in your body. We all know that convenience meals are, well, convenient. And we know that exercise is hard work. But the benefits are limitless. More energy, better health, a better body, better skin appearance. You can even gain a wider social circle and could get involved in your community more. But still, a lot of us are put off by the idea of sweating it out in a gym after a busy day at work. But yoga is an ideal solution. It is an exhilarating workout. It tones your entire body. It’s amazing from your mind as well. What more could you ask for?!

Introducing gently

When you decide to give this form of exercise a try, you will find that there are plenty of options to keep you interested. You can get simple 10 minute workouts to start with (search on YouTube) where the gentle stretch and tone will leave you feeling awakened and fresh. And you can find two hour plus sessions which will make you feel fantastic – inside and out. And, of course, there are plenty of other options in between. This is exercise, yes. But it allows you to work entirely at your own pace.

Absolutely not competitive

You know, one of things that puts people off of joining sports teams is the competitive nature within them. Some people love competition, but plenty don’t, especially when it involves your own personal fitness. That’s understandable. But that’s another reason why yoga can work for you. It’s about self-development, focus and improvement. You’ll never have to perform, or do gradings, or play against another team or person. There’s no losing, and no winning. It’s about you.

Flexibility, strength, balance and focus

These four things will be improved within your body each and every time that you practice. Very few people around are masters of all of these. Are you? The moving postures you will discover in yoga require you to move from one pose to another. You then have the balance postures which require you to hold a position for a dedicated amount of time. Meanwhile, you will have to retain a strong focus, being the calm within that storm.

A great work out for the mind

As you focus hard on the workout and the individual postures, you will find that your mind relaxes. You have to let go of the day’s problems and worries as you focus on your exercise. And, of course, you will be feeling a million times better for doing so when you’ve finished! it is often that people link meditation and religion with yoga. They do all work together, yes. But you can begin with the exercise portion of it and then work on the meditative side of things when you feel ready to. The religion aspect is entirely personal!
